July 18, 2026— The Feminist Image Group (FIG) is pleased to present Master Glitch at the Techne Art Center in Oceanside, CA, from August 7 to September 30, 2026. Gallery hours are Thursday through Saturday, 1:00 – 6:00 PM. Join us for the opening reception on August 15, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
Master Glitch features the work of 27 FIG artists who explore the fractures in dominant narratives—where systems fail, silenced voices emerge, and the facade of order collapses.
In our culture, master systems have long held sway, promising stability while perpetuating oppression. This exhibition reveals how art can serve as a visual disruption, exposing the cracks in the polished surfaces of accepted narratives—where the structure falters, where the oppressed are heard, and where false realities disintegrate.
The term "glitch" derived from Yiddish, was originally used to describe interruptions in radio waves. In today’s context, it manifests in instances like GPS misdirection or AI errors. In the artworks presented here, glitches are not mere accidents, they represent a resolute commitment to truth.
Historically, the feminist movement has challenged the "master" voice, advocating for the rights, opportunities, and value of all individuals. The members of the Feminist Image Group view the glitch as a site of resistance, using art to disrupt the status quo. Their diverse artworks, large and small scale, are confrontational, satirical, analytical, emotional, and aspirational. FIG artists are united in their mission to combat sexism, patriarchy, and gendered oppression.
Glitches convey truth; it is up to the public to decide whether to listen.
The exhibition features over 150 works including painting, printmaking, mix-media, sculpture, video and installation. The artists exhibiting are Kirsten Aaboe, Irene Abraham, Doris Bittar, Judith Elaine Christensen, Kelly Clark, Jeanne Dunn, Stacie Birky Greene, JaneE Hindman, Daphne Hill, Terri Hughes-Oelrich, Lisa Hutton, Linda Litteral, Nanette Newbry, Kathy Nida, Ann Olsen, Marty Ornish, Susan J. Osborn, Momilani Ramstrum, Helen Redman, Kim Reasor, Bridget Rountree, Jiela Rufeh, Alise Sheehan, Anna Stump, G. Pasha Turley, Ruth Wallen, Kelly Watson, and Cindy Zimmerman.
